Matching the original ceiling details

Sydney Pressed Metal completed a major pressed-metal ceiling restoration at O’Connell Street Public School in Parramatta. The work included new die manufacture and installation of ceiling panels, cornices, beam cladding, battens and individual decorative blocks to match the heritage-listed building.

New dies were made for the Kings Panel, approximately 600 mm × 600 mm; the Kings Extension Panel, 450 mm × 600 mm; and the Aztec Border & Cap. The published project page also records the use of Diamonds, Ripple and Candy Stripe Ripple designs.

The installation extended across eight ceiling bays at a height of more than 30 feet and included more than 3,000 individual decorative blocks.
