Copper soffit repair and pattern reproduction
Sydney Pressed Metal worked with builder Mainbrace Constructions on repairs and additions to the copper soffit linings at the David Jones building in Sydney CBD. The original Gravelstone design was reproduced in copper to imperial measurements for repairs and continuation of the soffit.
New copper panels were individually treated to coordinate with the patina of the original material. Lambton Batten was also pressed in copper and treated for the project, while reel-and-bead edging was used to accommodate the established Gravelstone layout.
Bell-shaped corner finials were reproduced in copper from four pieces: three skirt pieces and a solid-copper spire cap. The components were soldered together to form the complete element.
